Manama, Bahrain, 5 December 2020: Prince Mohammad Bin Fahd Global Insignia for Best Voluntary Work held its first evaluation meeting to review submitted voluntary projects and allocate roles and responsibilities of jury members and to finalize the mechanism of projects distribution and selection.
The evaluation meeting was held on Sunday, November 29, 2020 at 7PM Mecca time and started with a welcoming speech from the Dr. Faleh Al-Ruwaili, Head of Prince Mohammad Bin Fahd Global Insignia for Best Voluntary Work Evaluation Committee, the meeting was attended by Mr. Abdul Razzaq Al-Muraisi, General Coordinator of the Insignia and Secretary General of the Arab Voluntary Union and Mr. Ali Buhaza, Head of the Insignia Registration Committee.
The end of submission period was announced earlier last month with 356 submitted voluntary projects that were implemented across 41 countries from around world, submitted projects were evaluated by Dr. Faleh Al-Ruwaili Head of the Jury and Advisor to the Arab Union for Volunteering, Dr. Khaled Al-Azab, Jury Member and President of the Tanweer Foundation for Development in Yemen, Ms. Samya Hussain, Jury Member and Advisor to the Arab Voluntary Union, Dr. Abdullah Al-Batish, Jury Member - Arab Republic of Egypt, Dr. Faisal Al Munawer, Jury Member and Representative of the Arab Planning Institute, Dr. Ghada Diab Jury Member and Representative of the United Nations Population Fund, Dr. Abdul Qadir Al-Khassy, Jury Member and Representative of the Union for in the Middle East and Mr. Karim Sherida Jury Member and Representative of the United Nations Volunteer Program.
The evaluation process was distributed based on various fields and divided into two phases. The first phase will focus on evaluating submitted forms, videos and grading by jury members, the second phase will finalize winners selection based on the grading given during the first phase.
The evaluation committee emphasized that all submitted projects are considered successful as they contribute to promoting the spirit of collective effort, sense of responsibility and voluntary work to develop societies and support underprivileged individuals and groups, setting a great example for an entrepreneurial and responsible youth. The committee further stressed that the insignia aims to motivate individuals to create innovative projects and initiatives and compete in a healthy and supportive environment.
Prince Mohammad Bin Fahd Global Insignia for Best Voluntary Work is organized by Prince Mohammad Bin Fahd International Foundation for the third year in a row under the auspices of the League of Arab States and in cooperation with The Arab Voluntary Union. The insignia is organized in partnership with the United Nations Volunteers Program - Egypt, the United Nations Population Fund – the Regional Office for Arab Countries and the Arab Planning Institute in Kuwait.
Winners will be announced mid-January 2021, honoring ceremony will take place on 24th March 2021, at the headquarters of the League of Arab States in Cairo - Arab Republic of Egypt.
